Theraband Kinesiology Tape
In recent years, more and more athletes, patients and physical therapists use tapes that look like colorful stickers on their bodies (mainly on shoulders, knees, waist, forearms, calves, etc.).
These tapes are called kinesio tapes (Kinesiology tapes, kinesio tape, KTape, kt tape etc.) and are applied to the skin with various benefits for patients and people dealing with fitness, some of which, according to the literature, we will mention below:
a) Light support and support of the injured muscles and tendons but without limiting the range of motion (as, for example, is done with a splint that completely limits the range of motion (ROM).
b)Reduction of pain (and chronic) , since during the application of the kinesiology tape the skin is slightly raised above the point of pain, resulting in a reduction of pressure received by the nerve-receptors under the skin at the specific point.
c) Reduction of swelling and inflammation, since by reducing the pressure at the point, the lymphatic fluid is better channeled.
d) Faster recovery of over-trained muscles, since through the better circulation achieved with the use of the kinesio tape, training by-products such as e.g. the lactic acid present in these tired muscles, allowing more oxygenated blood to pass through resulting in their rejuvenation.
e) Better blood circulation locally and therefore prevention of muscle spasms and cramps.
While the athlete is wearing the Chinese tape, he can normally perform his exercise routine with exercise bands, weights, barbells, he can swim, continue athletic running, etc.
The patented XACTSTRECH technology.
Above and along the kinesiology tape there are small and large six-sided cells-indicators that show us the percentage of stretching of the tape. This is important because depending on the stretch we achieve the corresponding result we want (we use another stretch to reduce swelling and another stretch to support a tendon). With XACTSTRECTH technology we NO longer have to guess at that percentage. How does it work? As the kinesiotape stretches the indicator cells begin to decompress. During decompression first the small indicator cell takes the shape of a regular hexagon (all sides and all corners equal) and then we have a 25% voltage around the point. If we continue to apply tension and stretch the kinesio tape then we will notice that the large pointer cell also acquires a regular six-sided shape, resulting in a 50% stretch rate. By following the Thera-Band protocol knowing the trend we can achieve the corresponding results.
